Obituary for Eva Kalany

KALANY, Eva (nee Wolfram), born October 18th, 1928, passed away on Monday, December 18th, 2017 at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her three children, Ann (Ed) Yanosik of West Chester, Ohio; Frank (Molly) Kalany of Marietta, Georgia; and Rob (Brandee) Kalany of Florence, Kentucky. She is also survived by her 10 beloved grandchildren, Stephanie and Jenny Yanosik of Cincinnati; Eddie Yanosik of San Francisco; Samantha, Abby, Katie, and Robby Kalany of Kentucky; and Megan, Alex and Michelle Kalany of Georgia. Eva was born in an ethnic German section of Yugoslavia called Banat in the small town of Zerne. She immigrated to Cincinnati with her mother, where she eventually met her late husband, Frank. They married on April 7, 1956, and raised three children. She worked for many years as a seamstress for McAlpins, before retiring to enjoy her grandchildren. She spent time gardening, cooking, and playing with the grandchildren, leaving them with many joyful childhood memories. Her spirit will live on in the traditional recipes she passed down, including Goulash with Spaetzle, Aprikoseknoedel, and gruene Bohnen. Eva was a member of the Cincinnati Donauschwaben Society, a German cultural club, where she was an active member throughout her life. Visitation will be Friday, December 22nd from 9:00 A.M. until time of Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. at Saint Timothy Church, 10272 US 42, Union, KY. Burial to follow at St. Joseph Old Cemetery.
