Obituary for Howard Henry Eggerding

Eggerding, Howard H. beloved husband of the late Grace D. (Wickfeldt) Eggerding. Loving father of Sandra (Gary) Vice and Mark (Gina) Eggerding. Devoted grandfather of Beth Ann (Jordan) Cross, Matthew Vice, Leslie (Adam) Kiefaber, Andrew (Kaytlyn) Eggerding and Kyle Eggerding. Great-grandfather of Crosley and Ruby Kiefaber & Chloe Cross. Son of the late Ernst & Lydia (Hansing) Eggerding. Dear brother of the late Ralph Eggerding. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 age 97 years. Visitation Sunday, September 24th from 3 pm until time of funeral services at 5 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 3628 Boudinot Ave. (Westwood). Funeral procession to Arlington Memorial Gardens will depart at 11am on Monday from Neidhard-Minges Funeral Home, 3155 Harrison Ave (Westwood). Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.

Howard graduated Summa Cum Laude from Walnut Hills High School and the Cincinnati Art Academy. He served in the 88th Infantry Division during WW II in Rome-Arno, Northern Apennines and the Po Valley where he attained the rank of Master Sgt. He also wrote the historical chronicle for the 88th division which currently resides in the Smithsonian Institute. Howard was the Sunday School Superintendent at Grace Lutheran Church for 17 years and educated over 1500 children during his tenure.He was the lead tenor in the church choir for 30 years and director of activities for the 55 club. Howard worked as the chief fashion designer for Fashion Frocks and he was also an adjunct professor at the University of Cincinnati DAAP program. Howard enjoyed making custom wedding dresses and in his later years he made custom quilts for his family and friends.
