Obituary for
Yvonne E. Fox
Yvonne E. Stanway was born in Fort Thomas, Kentucky on July 10, 1922
to Charles* & Elsie Yates Stanway*. She had 3 siblings: Charles*, May* and Betty.
Yvonne showed signs of her feistiness and love for adventure early on. She often spent time at Coney Island and fondly spoke of swimming across the Ohio River. Yvonne became a “Fox” in marriage to Everett Fox* at age 17 and had five children: Everett (Mary), Roger, Ronald*, Nancy (Jim) and Sharon* (Tom).
Many also knew Yvonne from her time working for Seagrams, U.S. Shoe Factory, North Dearborn High School Cafeteria, Batesville Margaret Mary Hospital and various other employers. Known for her resourcefulness, several of Yvonne's part-time jobs helped fund her love for “trips” around the United States and overseas, as well as creating special memories for her family. Mrs. Fox was an active member of Harrison Senior Center and her community. She was one of the first to join her center’s choral group, became a pen pal volunteer at North Dearborn Elementary and crocheted hats and booties for pre-mature babies at Dearborn County Hospital. Yvonne became a member at First Baptist Church of Harrison and later at Dearborn Baptist Church.
Yvonne, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, G-maw, as she was known, made the most of life. She loved to GO! While Mrs. Fox was a resident of Dover, Indiana much of life, she visited nearly all the United States and over 8 countries during her 94 years. Additional loves included, family events, crafting of all kinds, gardening, reading, camping, swimming, singing, cooking, dancing and always being in the center of fun times. She did however, like to sneak in a nap under a shade tree or in her chair while reading a book if she could and there are many pictures to prove it. Yvonne's greatest delight however, was her 9 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren. The memories made and influence she had on them are priceless. Mrs. Fox’s vibrant life impacted so many.
Yvonne lived young and looked it! She was a natural beauty and many could not believe it when told her age. Even during her twilight years, Yvonne hated to miss out on the action and kept people on their toes. She lived independently in her home until age 92. When Mrs. Fox finally needed professional care, she still managed to garner loads of laughs and won the hearts of several staff at Saint Andrew’s Health Campus. On January 13, 2017, Yvonne Stanway Fox found her rest in eternity. She and her beautiful blue eyes will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Visitation Saturday from 9am until time of Funeral Service at 11:30am at the Minges Funeral Home, 10385 New Haven Rd Harrison, OH 45030. Burial to follow at Greendale Cemetery.
